This is an external CDROM drive which connects to the PCMCIA side expansion slot of the A600 and A1200. The controller in the unit itself is actually an IDE controller with a max transfer rate of 2MB/sec. The CDROM was also supplied with an external power supply to lighten the load on the A1200/A600
