The Mediator PCI 4000 is essentially a bridgeboard designed for use in the A3000 and A4000 which makes your PCI slots active, if you have them. Although it's normally supplied with the various A4000 and A3000 Mediator PCI busboards, it can in theory be used with busboards supplied my other manufacturers containing Zorro III and PCI slots where the PCI slots are not active. In the very early days of PCI for the Amiga, several replacement busboards were built for the Amiga but often the PCI slots were not active and so require a bridgeboard such as this to be of any use. It requires at least one Zorro III and PCI slot inline. The card is capable of supporting up to 5 PCI slots (PCI 2.1 compatible) with a 66/33Mhz clock. It supports the full 4GB PCI address space, busmastering and the SDRAM/SGRAM on PCI graphics cards being used as a fast DMA buffer. Up to 6 Zorro III slots can be used simultaneously with the PCI slots.
PCI Features
- 33MHz PCI clock (66MHz with the as yet unreleased SharkPPC)
- PCI transfers up to 132MB/sec (33Mhz), 264MB/sec (66Mhz)
- 4GB PCI memory space, accessed through a 512MB window in Zorro III address space
- Busmastering/DMA in all PCI slots
- Can use the SDRAM/SGRAM of a PCI graphics card as a DMA buffer
- Address and data parity control support
- Interrupt controller (4 lines to each PCI card)
