An accelerator which plugs into the trapdoor slot of the A1200. This card uses 64pin GVP SIMM32s which are not compatible with the other 64pin or 72-pin SIMM formats of the era. An optional GVP A1291 SCSI module was made available for this product.

The onboard ROM software-maps the 32-bit RAM starting at 0x0100.0000 and potentially up to 0x02FF.FFFF, and provides the SCSI driver if the A1291 is present and appropriate J5/J6 jumpers are set.  The driver is gvpscsi.device v5.x, which is not tool-compatible with the v3/v4 GVP FastROM series, nor the GuruROM V6 3rd-party offering.  The v5 GVPCPUCtrl and GVPSCSICtrl tools should be used with the board.

Jumper Settings:

J1 = Reserved/Off (On=Fallback to native A1200's 68020)
J2 = Reserved/Off (On=Disable 68030 Caching)
J3 = Selects SIMM32 module size.  On=4MB, Off=16MB.
J4 = Reserved/Off (On=Onboard Memory Disabled)
J5 = ROM Enable/Disable.  On=Enabled.
J6 = Software Option: If J5 ROM is Enabled, On=Poll for SCSI (via A1291 module, if present), Off=A1291 (if present) polling inactive.
J7 = Reserved/Off (unused/undfined software option)
CN5 = Reserved (1-2) (SIMM32 Memory chip refresh type, 2K/4K, which was never changd during original production)

Offical memory amounts (MB) supported are 4, 8, 16, 20, 32.  16MB or greater requires 16MB SIMM32 module(s).

Onboard Kickstart remap logic only supports the last 512K of a 4MB or 16MB SIMM32 in either socket.

1MB SIMM32's can be used in the second socket.  A pair of 1MB SIMM32's will result in two 1MB non-contiguous memory segments, and onboard Kickstart remapping is not possible in this case.

The 20MB setting uses one 16MB SIMM32 (inserted in CN1, and J3 set for 16MB SIMM32) and then one 4MB SIMM32 in CN2.

GVP-M provided a later v5.3 gvpscsi.device driver for the Expansion drawer (activated by the Binddrivers command in S:Startup-sequence) for a few unique SCSI device situations which require the ROM to be disabled in order to use the update.  It is not normally required.

The battery-backed clock uses a DS1994 button battery.  All evidence points to the driver ROM reading the clock and updating the Amiga.

It apears that the SCSI interface requires CPU access to the 64K of address space starting at $0300.0000 for certain board registers.  The author of MuLibs is looking to address this previosuly unknown need in the package's MMU configuration and environment detection logic.  This situation only applies to boards with a full 68030 MMU present and the use of MuLibs and the A1291 SCSI module. 

Kickstart remap, and use of the MoveSSP option, via GVPCPUCtrl, is generally encouraged for improved performance when there is a non-MMU 68EC030 present on the board.  You may use the 680x0.library / 68030.library in the MuLibs package to negate the boot-time CPU Errata message of Amiga OS 3.1.4 and newer.  In this use, it sets the TTx regisisters against the lower 16MB motherboard address space to satisfy the 68030's 32-bit long word writes HW cache inhibit flaw.

Use of MuLibs and the 68030.library is generaly encouaged when an MMU is present in place of GVPCPUCtrl's options for the additional features the package offers.  Review the MuLibs documentation for more details.
